President’s Message: Round 1

Hi All Sharks

The season is up and running, hopefully smoother for most of our coaches & teams than we on committee could have imagined.

The planning to get the season underway has been occurring for the last five months. Thank you to all the folks involved in volunteering to get our Club to this point. Once again, Thank you to all for your help & roles undertaken throughout our great club.

In particular our Director of Football – Mark Leonard, Secretary – Andrew Mortlock, and Team Managers Coordinator – Paul Hayes amongst other committee members.

Let’s now all enjoy season 2016!

Grading Process

There was a real mixed bag of results from Round 1.

Each year the YJFL embark on a Grading process over the first four rounds. They consider last years results, info provided by your club prior to the season & post the grading rounds and an assessment of results during the first four games.

In the past from time to time this has created some difficulty for committee, so as a result we please ask you familiarise yourself with YJFL Bylaws- Schedule A- via the Website.

ANZAC Round 2

I think the Sharks were early in recognising the ANZAC Legend within the YJFL, with all clubs now recognising the people that fought to provide us with what we have today.

This weekend your teams will be asked to stand in lines of solidarity, whilst listening to the reading of the Ode, & participating in a minute silence. I encourage you all to participate in this day.

My family will be at the Dawn service on Monday at Ringwood to show our respect along with our Colts, I encourage you to join us on site at the Clocktower this Monday.

Round 1 – Burger Night Wrap Up

WOW, what a great response to our season launch Burger night. There were literally hundreds of our Sharks family in attendance. Well done to all from Auskick to U8’s at their first burger night through to the Colts & all the Mums & Dads.

Sorry, due to the food lines not diminishing until after 7.15 we got under way a bit later than normal. The Kids loved the Giant Blow up Slide & of course the Raffle.
Thanks to all our helpers on the night who allowed the evening to run smoothly.

Club Captains

Congratulations to all the Colts who applied for this Distinguished position. Due to the quality of applications received, interviews conducted, club policy & age, we were left with a daunting decision to make. It was a very close call on all applicants.

Well done to James Fasan as Club Captain & Max Lowther as Vice Captain.

Every application received showed great maturity & Leadership. Watch out for our Colts this year, they are a great bunch of young men.

SharKwiz – Trivia Night!

SharKwiz 2016 is fast approaching, Saturday 4th of June at Domeney Reserve.
This is our primary fund raising event for the year, please see your Team Managers & Website for details. Come on be a part of it.

The SharKwiz is an informal night & a great opportunity to get to know the families in your Teams. Also whilst having a bit of fun.

Don’t sit with me though as I have the odds sealed on last place!! Again!!

The organising committee are seeking sponsorships & Auction items for the SharKwiz. A flyer explaining the sponsorship opportunities available & request for any prizes/auction items that can be donated will be out to you all soon. Your voluntary contributions will be greatly appreciated.

For more information please contact Mike Newton our Events Coordinator on 0421 049 904 or events@sharksjfc.org. au

Sponsorship

Whilst our club is built on volunteers we need every ones input in securing various sponsorship deals. Their contributions allow us to keep fees at a reduced level whilst assisting in our operating costs.
Please contact our sponsorship coordinator, Julie Brown, if you can help in any way. sponsorship@sharksjfc.org.au

Conduct

The Sharks are looked upon with envy by other clubs over how our Parents conduct themselves at matches, let’s please keep it that way.
I know we are all very passionate towards barracking for our children, please make sure it’s in a positive manner.
Umpires are there to help the game flow. Remember they are only Human and at times can make mistakes, please show positive support & watch the swearing.

Summary

If at any stage during the season you wish to raise any issues then contact me directly, please feel free to do so either personally or on the phone

Wishing all the Teams the best for next week and the season ahead.

Go Sharks!
