A Message from YJFL
Message from the league regarding Umpires and Medics. All registered players will have received the below info via an email from YJFL. Please be very aware and considerate of the challenges leagues and clubs are facing on this issue. This situation is out of the club’s hands
Teams will need to be prepared with a parent (or older sibling) on standby in case league umpires are not available.
Providing field umpires will be considered priority by the league over boundary umpires. Always have a parent (or older sibling) assigned as a boundary umpire.
All football leagues around the state face a shortage of umpires and we are no exception. This means some games (especially in U13-U15) will have only one League umpire and your Club must provide an additional umpire. We are actively recruiting and welcome those with any interest. It is a great way to stay involved, keep fit, have fun and get paid. Maybe you have an older child that could umpire or maybe you would like to umpire with one of your children?
Our game day medic supplier Colbrow are also facing staff scarcity problems. But for the start of this season we are 30 medics short of what we need. If you are medically qualified and would be interested in being your clubs medic on Sunday we will pay you to be a member of the Colbrow team. We always aim to provide a qualified medic to all games, but the start to this year will look different. We will look to spread the medics we do have evenly amongst the grounds, and will rotate their venues each week.

BBQ Roster
As part of the season launch we will be setting up a Sausage Sizzle from the early U8/U9 and Auskick sessions and all through the day.
We’d love the support of club members to help keep this sausage sizzle going during the day.
Roster is for hourly time slots and BBQ will be set up facing the oval.
Helpers will be able to watch their kids play
OR if you have an hour to spare during the day when your child isn’t playing we’d love to see you.

There is an unfortunate delay with our game day shorts due to slower Covid-19 related manufacturing processes.
We have been notified that they won’t arrive until after the practice game on Sunday March 20th
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have ordered and paid for shorts with your registration these orders will be filled first
We will notify all club members when the shorts are available for purchase
For practice games if you do not have club shorts we recommend that you please wear plain black shorts with no pockets

Change Our Game is an AFL initiative designed to celebrate our girls in footy and change the attitudes of men and women towards women in sport
We will be showcasing girls practice matches all day at Domeney culminating in a senior women’s practice match with our own Park Orchards Senior Womens Sharks
ALL club members and community are invited to be at Domeney from 4pm to enjoy the match. There will be a BBQ, food trucks, AFL inflatables and the bar will be open.
