Hi all Sharks members,
Firstly, welcome to all our new Sharks, great to see you here.
Secondly, thanks to all our returning Sharks, it is great to have you back.
Thirdly and most importantly, thanks to all our ‘engine room’ volunteers – Coaches and Team Managers – without your commitment, we just could not get started.
As we approach the second of our practice matches and season launch, I am happy to say we are in great shape. At this time there is only two age groups struggling for numbers for making 1-2 sides, but as always, the committee are very active in the background trying to ensure everyone gets a game. At this stage it appears that we will run 17-18 teams in Season 2014.

Registration
Registrations for 2014 are sitting at 362 players now registered against the 408 for Season 2013. The Sharks are still seeing registrations come in post cricket and basketball finals and expect those number so grow over the coming weeks. If you couldn’t make the Registration Day and still need more time, don’t panic as our Online Registration is open 24/7 for an extended period. If you are having difficulties with the online registration please give our Registrar – Alison Goldsmith – a call on 0425 761 820.
Coming Events
Practice Matches – Sunday 30 March 2014
Please refer below for the schedules of this Sunday’s practice matches including starting times, locations, color shorts etc. As most of our Team Managers have been appointed (we still need more, so speak to your Coaches) you will soon receive information from them, rather than my bombardments. As per game day, your Team Managers will require parental support – trainer, umpire escort, boundary or goal umpires, etc – so please make yourself known to them. Team Managers have now been briefed in relation to game day requirements (as per YJFL By-Laws) and will most likely roster to these. If you have a particular role you want as your own, first in best dressed I say.
2014 Season Launch – Sunday 6 April 2014
This date marks the kick off to the season. As has become common practice at the Sharks, this day will culminate in a social event at Domeney Reserve with food, entertainment, refreshments and prizes for all in attendance. More details will follow shortly, so watch this space again!

Coaches
As mentioned above, a number of our coaches have now been appointed for Season 2014 but there remains some vacancies. If you are interested in applying / reapplying for a role that helps shape children as players and people please apply – forms available on our website. A number of coaches have already been appointed for some of the nineteen existing positions from Season 2013, please refer to our webpage. Team Managers
Behind every Coach is a great Team Manager. Whilst the Coach sorts out the players on the field, the Team Manager ensures all other facets of game day are looked after. If you are interested in applying / reapplying for a role that supports shaping children as players and people please call Paul Hayes – Director of Team Managers – 0403 163 835 OR email him – teams@sharksjfc.org.au.
Committee
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and in relation to our committee their great work ends as their children’s junior football club concludes. Last year we saw three committee members leave for that very reason with more expected to go this year. So ask yourself – Is it my turn? If you want to discuss committee and roles vacant or those about to become vacant, please give me a call.
