President Talk

President Talk: Round 4, 2022

As we reach the end of what has been a busy four weeks of grading, I would like to thank the committee, coaches, team managers, parents and players who have been so patient over the past few weeks.

Countless hours have been dedicated to this process. We have been working closely with the Yarra Junior Football league (YJFL) to ensure that all our teams play the remainder of the season at a level that is appropriate for their ability. By going through this rigorous process it means that each team will be with the other teams of similar ability making it a fair and competitive season ahead.

We look forward to getting to season really going now and wish everyone good luck as we head into round 5. Go Sharks!

Thank you to Dean

After 6 years on the Sharks committee, Dean Prest stepped down from his role as Director of Football.

Being part of any community club committee is one of the most rewarding roles of all. Friendships are made and that feeling of contributing back to the community is priceless.

He has been an integral and valued member of the Sharks and have helped make important decisions and changes both on and off the field. He has added so much value to the club in his time as a member of the committee. The committee is sincerely grateful for Dean’s tireless contribution over the past few years.

Dean isn’t going far as he will continue his role as coach for the Under 13 team. We wish Dean and his team a successful season ahead. Thank you Dean!

(Please note that Michael James has taken on the role as interim Director of Football)

President Talk: Round 3, 2022

After much anticipation, Season 2022 is off to a flying start.

Over the last few Sundays, teams have been scattered across the region as the sound of football echoes across the suburbs. Football is back!

Of course, a season doesn’t just happen overnight. I would like to kick off the season with a note of gratitude.

A huge thanks goes to the incredible Sharks committee who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes over the past couple of months to get the season up and running.

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing with many curve balls thrown at us along the way. None of us are perfect but we all share the same passion of community and are focussed on our players and families reconnecting and having fun.

Thank you also to the coaches who have dedicated hours of their weeks to ensure that each child get to enjoy the thrills of football once more. We appreciate the time and effort that you put in each week on top of your daily lives to ensure that our kids get the best footy experience as possible.

Finally, I would also like to thank all the parents and supporters who give their time each week to help with training and on game day to help things run smoothly.

We honestly couldn’t run a season without you all so THANK YOU.

It is this level of commitment and support from volunteers that ensures our club continues to thrive.

Let’s make season 2022 the best yet.

Go Sharks!!

Thanks a million
