President’s Report: Round 10

Hi All Sharks,

By golly, it was certainly a cold morning last Sunday.  I was at Warrandyte at 8:30am and had watched the temperature in the car drop on the drive from home down to -2 degrees.  Warrandyte oval was a picture perfect white blanket, all I needed was my snow skis.

It’s amazing what one game of football can do for a team.  Our under 15 Blacks spent the first 6-7 rounds being beaten by an average of 100 points each week.  Not a good feeling for all.  However, give the Coaches their credit they have kept the boys morale up and been trying different ideas each week.  To the boys, well done on listening to your Coaches and encouraging each other week to week.  Two weeks ago, down to 14 players, our boys put their best foot forward and were competitive for most of the game.   A loss again, but the competitive efforts had it to only 21 points.  On Sunday the boys backed this up in Luca’s 100th game and enjoyed their FIRST victory for the year.

I know it’s the old clichés but team work, passion, encouragement and a never say die attitude, can lead to amazing things.  The song has never been belted out with more enthusiasm than it was at 2:55pm that day.  To see the smiles on the boys even though totally exhausted was magnificent!

Across all teams, numbers were down as we commenced school holidays.  To all parents, please enjoy the coming weekend footy free.  To all players, time to thank your parents by helping out around the house!  How about surprising Mum this Sunday with a cuppa in bed.  Without their taxi service, you could never show us the Champs that you all are.

Committee

We have had two “volunteers” put their hand up for next year, thank you.  Various roles are still needed to be filled.  Please give me a call to discuss your interest, otherwise we might have to find a few more “volunteers.”  Without assistance there is no way we can field teams.  Come on, get on board!
