President’s Message: Round 7

Hi All Sharks,

This week sees our teams reaching the half way mark of the season. WOW! – 7 down, Round 8 this week and 7 to go. Whilst the club is all about participation, I did have a sneaky look to see how our teams from U11s through to how the Colts are going. It’s great to see all teams are trying really hard. Seven of the eleven teams are currently sitting in finals contention. The others are not far off. Great efforts have been made by all players, well done.

GO SHARKS!!

Conduct

Thank you to everyone. This last round passed without our Director of Football, or myself, receiving a call from the YJFL regarding negative comments to umpires and opposition. Please keep up the good work in supporting our players in a positive manner, it’s really appreciated.

Sharkwiz – Trivia Night

It’s here this Saturday night the 4th of June @ 7.00pm at Domeney Reserve. A standing round of applause to our co-ordinators who have filled the hall to overflowing. Well done Sharks for getting on board and participating.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Philipsen, Mike Newton (Events Co-ordinator) and his magnificent helpers from our Under 13 age group for all their hard work in pulling this together. I would also like to thank out hard working Team Managers and Coaches for promoting the event and getting numbers together to make up the tables. Finally, we would like to thank all those that donated and our sponsors for their donations and supports.

  • Gold Sponsors: Hoskins Real Estate and Club Ringwood
  • Silver Sponsors: Opulent Homes, R.J. Waller, Essential Wetsuit Holders and Mark Leonard Plumbing

Well done to Gus Brown, Seb Reneyke and Lachlan Gawel on being selected to the U15 YJFL Representative Team. Also, well done to Lachlan Grawel to selection to the U15 Eastern Ranges Development Squad. Our congratulation and best of luck with the program and your representation on behalf of the Sharks Football Club.

Concussion

Unfortunately, over recent weeks we have seen a number of our players (and opposition) suffer head injuries and concussions. As reported in Shark Attack Edition 3 on 8/5/16 regarding injury and insurance, we have implemented the AFL and YJFL Concussion Management Provisions for ages 5-17. For further clarification please refer to the Policies page on the web site under Club Information.

Congratulations to Mel, Ingrid and Nina on taking up the key roles in establishing this program going forward.
