Development Squad!

In acknowledgement of the Park Orchards North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club (Sharks) vision of providing opportunities for young and maturing children to develop both as sports people and as individuals the clubs forefathers developed and implemented the Development Squad.

The Development Squad program is designed to improve the football experience of each and every player in the club. This is achieved by ensuring that participating players and coaches are being exposed to coaching methods and drills that can be delivered on a small group and individual level and then filtered back to their teams.

The Development Squad program 2015 ran over three nights with each session commencing with a video analysis of game play followed by practical application.  The feedback has been nothing but positive and I would like to thank the Development Squad Coordinator Tim Livingstone, the assisting parents and the players for their commitment and dedication to this wonderful program.

Concussion!

Unfortunately, over recent weeks we have again seen a number of our players (and opposition)  suffer serious head injuries and concussions.   As reported in Shark Attack Edition 3, we have implemented the AFL Concussion Management Provisions for ages 5-17 – refer to the Policies page on the website under Club Info.

All teams officials – Coach, Team Managers, Trainers – and parents are asked to refer, consider and apply the  provisions in the management of your child’s/players health should they suffer a head injury or concussion.

Please pay particular attention to the section headed Removing the Player from the Game pages 8, point 5.  The decision for the child/player to return to play will be up to the First Aid Qualified Trainer/Official.

We Need You On Committee!

At the end of Season 2015 a number of positions will become vacant on Committee. These vacancies will include the four primary roles – President, Director of Football, Secretary and Treasurer. We are NOW seeking your support, so if you are in a position to assist can you PLEASE give me a call.

Summary

If at any stage during the season you wish to raise issue with me – positive or negative – please feel free to do so either personally or via the telephone!

Wishing you all the very best for Round 8. Please enjoy yourselves.  Go Sharks!!!!
