President’s Report: Round 4

Hi All Sharks

Round 4 is now complete

The YJFL Grading for 2017 has now reached its conclusion. We will know the positioning of teams that have made a request to change divisions within the next 24 hours. Once this knowledge is at hand we shall inform all team managers to pass on to their respective teams.

Congratulations to the team who have performed well during this process. Also, congratulations to the teams who have tried hard but have been outclassed due to being in the wrong division. Your commitment to complete each week and play for your teammates is exemplary.

To bring this to greater clarity for some, one of my boys has had 517 points kicked against his team in the first four rounds. Ahh by golly I’m glad grading is now complete and we look forward to a more competitive season ahead.

Sometimes football reflects life in teaching us various lessons and how we, as a collective, deal with them even if not fully understanding why?!!

Bring on Season 2017 in its true format and may all of our players enjoy being on the park each week representing the Sharks Junior Football Club.

Sharks Pink Ribbon Day – Mother’s Day

Friday night was huge.  A big thank you to our AusKick Committee, Parents & Players.  Prior to the U8’s matches, our AusKick put on a clinic with all our future AFL Superstars in attendance.  There were dozens of young Players in attendance; what a great way to showcase our club to the Beverly Hills Parents and Players.  Well done AusKickers for participating and then hanging around for the U8’s match and to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Our weekend kicked off with the 2nd year tradition of U8’s being played under lights on Friday night. Thank you to all players in attendance, including Beverley Hill J.F.C., helpers and parents. What a great atmosphere the night brought to all. Mums were recognised within their teams with nibbles, champers and congratulations. Committee and Colts put on a BBQ for all, whilst participating in the Buddies Program and also raising extra funds for Breast Cancer. Sorry folks for turning off the lights 2 hours after the matches were completed, but we wanted to go home to our families as well. Beaver, well done on the implementation of the evening. A great success as evidenced by the feedback received.   The U9’s enjoyed an equally successful evening at Stintons Reserve.  I trust a number of Mum’s were able to appreciate a sleep in on Sunday morning.

Great to see so many Sharks players providing a gold coin donation during the weekend for Breast Cancer.  Further donations can be made over the next week or so at the canteens. Not only do your actions raise money for a great cause, but also provides us with a greater awareness on how close to home this illness can hit. Well done to all Team Managers for co-ordinating the weekend.

SharKwiz – Trivia Night! Only a few tickets sold! Come on Sharks, get on board!

SharKwiz 2017 is fast approaching… Saturday 3rd June (folks, less than 3 weeks away) @ 7.00pm at Domeney Reserve. Whilst this is our primary fundraising event for the year, the Sharkwiz is an informal evening and a great opportunity to get to know the families of your teams, whilst having a bit of fun. We need each team to book at least one table of 10.

The Sharkwiz organising committee are seeking auction items for the Sharkwiz. A flyer explaining the request for any prizes/auction items that the Sharks Community are willing to donate is displayed on our webpage.

For ease of booking the online system has been adopted so please refer to the Sharkwiz Invitation circulated to you via your team Managers or via the Team App.

For more information, please contact our Events Coordinator

Burger Night Sunday 18th June

The next burger night (only 3 for the year) is the Colts/U8’s & U9’s Buddies Night. They will all be hosting the night, putting on clinic demonstrations and cooking for us all. So, just giving everyone a heads up on the date and parties involved. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Sharks Football and Netball Seniors

The last two weeks has seen the Senior Sharks have some noted success.  What a few weeks can make in football.  After a really disappointing loss to local rivals (Warrandyte, who are now bottom of the ladder and struggling with every other team they are playing), the Sharks have bounced back well with 2 wins over the last two weeks to Scoresby away and to the top of table and favourite for the flag – Boronia at home.

Our senior netball teams have gone from strength to strength this year, coming out of the grading matches strong with some great wins.  We look forward to keeping you all informed with how both the Football and Netball teams fair throughout the season.  See you at the football.

Summary

Looking forward to Round 5 for our Juniors. If at any stage you have any queries then please don’t hesitate to contact myself.

Go Sharks!
