President’s Report: Round 13

Hi all Sharks,

Round 13 completed on a wonderful winter’s day with sunshine for most of it.   It seemed to be a weekend for Milestones at the matches that I attended.   Five boys played their 100th games and smashed through banners made with love.   Well done and congratulations to all milestone games played by the boys.   At next week’s burger night we will have 50 game medals and 100 game trophies to hand out from the 18th of June onwards.   Those that may occur during finals will be handed out at presentation day on the 10th of September.

I was so proud today of our U8’s, U10’s, U14 Youth Girls and U16 Youth Girls Parents at Stintons.   Our normal canteen coordinator had to go home early as she was extremely unwell. Like the days of old, mums and dads from each year level jumped in to help out. I know some of you felt out of your comfort zone, however, nothing was too daunting to handle.   None of these year levels had been involved, when previously for years that’s how we ran the canteens.   To see the Sharks Football Club spirit in action for the call to arms is what makes this club so special.   Thank you one and all from Team Managers, to coaches and parents who helped out – well done.

Passion, Emotion, Misconduct

Next Sunday is our last home and away round.  Congratulations to all Sharks players who have participated in season 2017.   Thank you for pulling the boots on each week and being part of a team environment in the “best” club in the YJFL.   On Thursday evening we spoke with the Team Managers regarding the finals approaching.   Wow, what a good effort to make it to a finals appearance.   Levels of expectation, encouragement, support and participation seem to go up a notch.   However we need to be mindful of expectations vs reality and how we support our players without being tagged as “one of those parents” in weeks ahead.

Currently, the PONRPJFC has a bond imposed by the YJFL for $1500 for 12 months. The terms are accordingly-

“The bond will be forfeited if any Official or parent of the Club is found guilty of misconduct by the YJFL Tribunal during that 12 month period.” So please, all Sharks Parents & Officials, during finals, support your team enthusiastically without putting down umpires or the opposition.   Our club is well known for its passion but also for giving everyone a fair go.   On behalf of the committee, be restrained in unbecoming comments or loud incriminations towards others or umpires and support our boys for their fair play.   I thank you in advance for the correct level of encouragement and support that all parents bring to these games.

Burger Night – Sponsors Night

This Sunday 6th August is our Final Burger night for the season.  The BBQs will be operated by the U13’s year group.  Please see your Team Managers for the role you’ll need to fulfil. As an additional attraction to the Club Spirit, a YJFL fixtured match will be played under lights.   Both our Sharks U8’s will kick off at 5.00pm until approximately 6.00pm to complete the last H & A game for season 2017.   What a grand finale to end on in front of their biggest crowd to date.

We look forward to seeing as many in attendance as possible.   Mums & Dads, a night off from cooking, the chance to socialize with other parents, enjoy a glass of bubbles or other refreshments and be around for the raffle at approximately 7.30pm.

Presentation Day – Sunday 10th September

Annual General Meeting – Sunday 10th September

The Park Orchards North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club Annual General Meeting will be held at 12:30pm on Sunday 10th September 2017 at Domeney Reserve, coinciding with the interval of our Presentation Day.

This meeting will discuss such items as the year’s football and financial performance and it is hoped that we will also identify and vote in any new committee members.  Any member wishing to agenda items for discussion must do so 14 days prior to the meeting.

Each member eligible to vote is entitled to appoint another member who is eligible to vote as a proxy by notice given to the Secretary no later than 48 hours before the timing of the meeting.  Proxy forms are available on request via the Club President or Secretary.

Committee

Thanks to the parents who have volunteered to join us next year.   As the club has grown and we target 6 – 7 new teams for next year, we have broken up the workload of some roles. The Director of Football shall now be split into 3 separate roles – D.O.F., Coaches Coordinator and YJFL Representative.   Early indications are that 2 of the 3 have been filled. Next year we will have a designated Girls Coordinator and we are interviewing candidates now.   Team Selection Coordinator will become a 3 person subcommittee.   The two roles yet unfilled are Team Managers Coordinator and Marketing/Social Media Representative.

Please let me know if either of these roles can be an opportunity for you to help out with. Both are extremely rewarding and come with templates of what, when and how the role needs to be conducted over the season.   A full summary of roles and participants will be voted on at our AGM and in our end of season report.

POFC – Seniors

With our U19’s, Reserves & Seniors sitting well on the ladder, Finals are just around the corner. This Saturday 5th August, the Sharks take on East Burwood at home.   If you’re available, please bring all and sundry along and support the “big” boys as they march to possible Grand Finals.   A great day had by all, look forward to seeing many Sharks junior families in attendance.

Round 14 is next week – final home & away round for the season!
