President’s Report: Round 12

Hi All Sharks,

Congratulations to the Mums and Dads who turned up for our annual Social Evening.  This year we returned to “Rosebank” in North Ringwood and it certainly offered an environment of sophistication.  There were plenty of various dishes offered during the course of the evening and having two bars open led to fast service.  The noise grew during the evening and the laughter was at fever pitch!  A fun night had by all.  Thanks to the nearly 100 in attendance for braving the cold evening.

The trouble a lot of the Mums had gone to in “dolling up” was great to see, if “Australia’s Next Top Model” had been present we would have seen many Sharks Mums on TV next year.  Ladies you need to be congratulated, you all looked lovely.

Though it took a couple of attempts, soon the dance floor was buzzing with activity and sing alongs.  To all, thanks for another fun filled night and plenty of memories.  Well done Mike Newton and committee for all your assistance and endeavours on making a fantastic night occur.

Round 12 is behind us, only 2 rounds to go until finals. By golly, the season has certainly gone by fast.  At the Sharks we pride ourselves on fielding various teams whereby all Players can participate.  Our goal is to get kids playing, engaging and improving in Australian Rules Football.  You are all champions in my eyes for participating and being part of the Sharks Football Club.  Finals and premierships are a by-product.  That said, I note that we have 11 teams from U11 to Colts competing for final’s positions this year.  Best of luck to all in particular, may the Colts teams have a great finals series.

Thanks to all our Coordinators and all the Parents for helping out during the season.  I hope all our young Auskickers have enjoyed learning new skills each Saturday.  Our final clinic in August will be visited by JFC Committee to cook the BBQ for our Players and Parents and answer questions regarding the move to the JFC.

Colts & Life Members Dinner

Tuesday 25th July saw all our Colts, Life Members, Past Presidents, Parents, Helpers and Representatives enjoy a wonderful dinner at Club Kilsyth.  We shared on the foundations of how the Club has been built over the last 25 years with statistics and figures.  This further continued into the Club’s vision going forward and the opportunities for all boys and girls being given the chance to be in a team environment and being part of something special.  The PONRPJFC is a bastion to create positive growth whilst offering a pathway for every player and family to be the best they can be.  The legacy we have inherited via previous Committees is important to us and the pressure to continue is acknowledged.

Thanks to Tom Feher our Seniors Captain and Tom Macrockanis – leader of our U19’s for their frank dissection of introducing Juniors to the honours of being part of the Senior Club.  Well done guys in speaking so eloquently about your past and present fulfilments and challenges whilst offering a pathway acknowledged into the POFC.

Burger Night – Sponsors Night – 6th August

Our final burger night (prior to the 10th September AGM – Presentation Day) is on Sunday 6th August.  We will be holding our annual “Club Sprint” handicap event.  Every team will be represented.  Of course, the giant slide, raffle and plenty of food will be available for all.

As a gesture of thank you to our sponsors, the Club will be putting on food and drinks at no charge for them.  Please make yourself known to Committee Members via your Sponsors card, to receive your complementary drinks and food.  Our Sponsors are integral in keeping registration fees down and helping to purchase much needed training materials.  Thank you to all our sponsors who have supported our great Club during 2017 and we look forward to your assistance during 2018.  Please consult our Directory of Sponsors and where possible use the services they offer.  I have on two occasions this year and received a discount!

Team Managers Debrief – 27th July

Confirming your de-briefing meeting with Paul Hayes at The Grand – Warrandyte on Thursday 27th July at 7:00pm. Please can you all try very hard to be there.  The pack up and associated routines need to be explained to all.

Committee

At the end of the season, some Committee Members step down from their role of responsibility.  If you think you could be a candidate to be involved next year, then please let me know.  We have filled a number of on and off Committee roles but still require assistance.  To our younger Sharks Members in U10 – U12 we will be making contact over the next few weeks to assess your potential involvement.
