President’s Report: Round 14

Hi all Sharks,

Apologies for this week’s war & peace.  Yes it’s lengthy but please read it all!!

Thank you all for your attendance at Burger night on Sunday.  The Final Home and Away evening was extremely well attended.  Especially being such a cold night and hail having being predicted.  The evening was based around 3 events – Sponsors night, the U8’s playing under lights from 5-6pm and the Club Sprint.  Though most of the children will think it’s 4, “the raffle!”

So in order, thank you to all our sponsors who have contributed during the year.

Our Major Sponsor: Appleby Real Estate “A Tradition of Trust” for over 55 years

Gold Sponsors: Club Ringwood, Elephant & Co.

Silver Sponsors: Bendigo Bank Warrandyte, RNG Lawyers, The Grand Warrandyte

Bronze Sponsors: Resi Ventures, MCG Windows & Doors, Rebel Sport

To all our general and team sponsors (Sharks Business Directory and Sharks Website Sponsors)

To see our U8’s in action and to view the many spectators in the terraces cheering them on was magnificent.  Well done to the Players and the Organisers.  Great to see them in action after our Colts Red had played.

Club Sprint

The conditions were perfect and the handicapping placements were superb.  Thank you to all participants, you all crossed the line within a metre or so of each other.  Congratulations to our winner Matt Parrott.

The Season

Congratulations to all Coaches, Team Managers and Parents who played roles during the year.  You are a credit in how you’ve gone about doing what is required.  Twelve teams have now concluded their 2017 season.  It’s been extremely pleasing to see you all out and about during the season.  Now it would be just as pleasing to see many out supporting our Finals’ teams next Sunday.  Players feel special when competing in finals, to see a seas of Red, White and Black at their games.  Please try to get to the finals.   Dates and times will be sent out later this week.

A reminder to all Coaches at the completion of finals, all places are null and void.  With that said, we would encourage current coaches and those deserving to Coach in 2018 to get their applications in ASAP.  We would like to announce next year’s teams on Presentation day, therefore if you’d like to commit then apply immediately.  Kevin George and our new Coaches Coordinator will work with applicants over the next 6 weeks.  Please note, we will have seven (7) Youth Girls teams next year with four Coaches already volunteering. If you’re interested in applying to be a coach, please download our application form

Club Captain’s Message

Our Club Captains – Jordon Knox and Will Macrokanis both spoke eloquently and with passion about their junior football journey.  They elaborated on all the player contributions during the year and the support of Parents.  Unfortunately, Grace was unable to attend on the night however, we look forward to her wrap up of Season 2017 on Presentation Day.  Guys, you exhibited the spirit of the Sharks and what wonderful young men you truly are.  All the best for the future.

Domeney Management Plan

Manningham Council released a plan a number of years ago to build new change rooms and increase our social space.  Recently, they have reneged on their commitment.  The Sharks (Junior, Senior Football, Netball and now with JFC Youth Girls) is the largest playing and membership based club in Manningham, and Maroondah combined.  We are calling on all Parents to please go online and voice the need for enhanced change rooms and larger social rooms.

You can have your say about Domeney by clicking the link below and completing the Submission Form: Draft Domeney Reserve Management Plan

Please also raise your concerns with your local Councillors, Andrew Conlan, Sophy Galbally and Paul McLeish.  Our total player and membership base over the next 2 years will hit 2,500 people.   Domeney needs to grow proportionally to accommodate these numbers.

Raffle

This year via our three burger nights and our Trivia night we have given away over $5,500 in Rebel Vouchers.  Our arrangement with Rebel Sports in Eastland is that for every dollar spent a portion comes back to us in vouchers.  We have also purchased an additional $1,500 of equipment, therefore over $7,000 has been returned to the club from Rebel Sports.

Please when shopping there, ask to become a member and nominate the Park Orchards North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club as your club.  The benefits to the Sharks are enormous, thank you.  It also helps to offset us increasing fees and keeping our registration at a historical low compared to other Sports and Clubs.

Committee

As mentioned at Burger Night we are looking for a Team Manager’s Coordinator for 2018.  Paul Hayes has a complete template of the role and will be happy to give advice.  I really need to make this happen soon.  Also, if you have a background in Marketing or Advertising then we need you.  Our Marketing and Social Media representative is needed to combine with two other Committee Members next year in positioning the Sharks as the number on Junior Football Club.  So if this is your background, then get on board and please give me a call.

Annual General Meeting – Sunday 10th September 2017

The Park Orchards North Ringwood Annual General Meeting will be held at 12:30pm on Sunday 10 September 2017 at Domeney Reserve, coinciding with the interval of our Presentation Day.

This meeting will discuss such items as the year’s football and financial performance and it is hoped that we will also identify and vote in any new committee members.  Any member wishing to agenda items for discussion must do so 14 days prior to the meeting.

Each member eligible to vote is entitled to appoint another member who is eligible to vote as a proxy by notice given to the Secretary no later than 48 hours before the timing of the meeting.  Proxy forms are available on request via the Club President or Secretary.

If at any stage you wish to raise issues with me, please feel free to do so either personally or via the telephone!
