Sharks honoured by
Eastern Coaches Association
Two Sharks coaches (Gavin Turner U14 & Mark Powell Auskick) were recently honoured with Coach of the Year Nominations at a Football Victoria – Eastern Coaches Association dinner. Although they did not win their categories, to have their nominations accepted was a fabulous achievement and they were presented with certificates to commemorate the occasion. Congratulations Gavin and Mark.

Sports Achievement Rewarded
The Australian Government Sport Achievement Award was introduced to recognise outstanding sporting achievements and performance by sports men/women and contributions by community members.
Kevin Andrews, Federal MP for Menzies, said this year the focus was directed locally to our youth’s sporting achievements and following a call for nominations, two young candidates were selected to receive Sport Achievement Awards in Menzies.
Kevin said both Sport Achievement Award recipients demonstrated excellent sporting performance and leadership.
Sam Coghlan was nominated by the Park Orchards-North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club for his leadership as Captain of the Colts (under 17) team and achievement in being selected to play with the Yarra Junior Football League ‘Colts 2008 Team of the Year’. Matthew Bremner was nominated by the East Doncaster Cricket Club for his commitment to the Club.
Kevin Andrews congratulated Matthew and Sam on their personal achievements and also paid tribute to the support and ‘taxi service’ provided by parents and the voluntary work of sporting club committees. He said, “Sport plays a very important role in building healthy communities and Matthew and Sam are each worthy recipients of the Award. I wish them the very best for the future”.
