- Our goal -
Is to have fun whilst learning the skills of the game of Australian Rules Football. |
- How did we start -
The foresight of some of the coaches and parents in the surrounding areas realised that the Junior Football Club needed its own feeder Auskick.
|
- Affiliation with Junior Football Club -
We are proud to part of the Park Orchards/North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club.
- Feeder Schools -
Our main feeder schools are Holy Spirit North Ringwood, Park Orchards Primary & St Annes Park Orchards.
|
- What is Auskick? -
AFL Auskick allows children (boys and girls aged 5-12 ) to play sport in a relaxed,
environment where making friends, having fun with their parents, and improving their
skills are given equal weight. It also provides excellent social value. All children, regardless
of their ability, will have as many opportunities to touch the ball and use it effectively as
the next child. All children will improve their ball handling skills and confidence playing a
team sport. It provides a strong base for kids to move into any sport on a competitive level. The emphasis has always been on having fun while improving a child's sporting skills,
co-ordination, health and fitness, and social skills.
|
- How much does it cost? -
The whole season costs only $60 per child in each family for a winter season of fun. Most of this goes to the AFL for the pack of goodies each child receives upon registration.
|
- When is it held -?
Park Orchards/Nth Ringwood Parish Sharks Auskick clinics are conducted from April until August on Saturday mornings from 9 – 10.45 am . A full Calendar is handed out at registration which includes details of our fun days, BBQs, parents match, canteen, etc.
|
- Who runs it? -
Park Orchards/Nth Ringwood Parish Sharks Auskick is only in its third year of operation and is organised by Mum's and Dad's from Auskick. All our coaches are fully accredited by the AFL and parents are encouraged to get involved as well and be on the ground with their kids. Auskick is seen as the forerunner to Junior Football and a place where children can improve their ball handling skills and confidence. The Junior Football Club has teams from Tackers (Under 9s) through to Under 16's. Many of our children do both Auskick and play in a junior football team and we encourage this from Grade 3+, if possible, as it is an excellent way of developing confidence and skills.

|
- What is the format of each session? -
Each session starts with an address by the Clinic Co-ordinator at 9am sharp. After breaking into grade groups, children participate in a variety of fun activities, football drills and skill games. We then break up into specially modified football games called Aussie Footy for safe practicing of their newly formed skills. When the siren goes at 10.30am, we meet for encouragement awards from the coaches.
